An old man lives alone in his big house.  His wife died some years ago, and he misses her terribly.  Life has been hard for him.  He can no longer walk, since a bullet smashed his spinal column, so now he is confined to a wheelchair.  During a visit from his son, he recalls how he met his beloved wife, all those years ago.  Filled with memories, he asks his son to leave, as he is tired.  His son does what is asked of him, leaving the old man all alone... or so he thinks.  Shortly after his son's departure, the old man hears a crash coming from downstairs.  There is a burglar in the house.  But his wheelchair can't get down the stairs, and the elevator is out of order.  What can he do?

Lonely Night is a wonderful adventure game that just oozes atmosphere.  I found the story very sad, and it really tugs at your heart-strings.  I felt so sorry for the old man.  Intro & Outro music is a song called 'Lonely Nights' by The Scorpions, and it just sets things up perfectly *sniff*  As you are playing the game, 'A Time Goes Bye' plays as a continuous loop.  It fits in so well with the whole story, and really makes you feel sorry for him.  *sniff sniff*  Sinitrena (the creator) really has a knack for picking just the right song!  Sound effects are very limited - the sound of glass breaking at the start, a tinkle sound as you pick something up, a clunk when you fix elevator, and the beeps as you dial the phone.  But that's all that is needed.

The intro is simply wonderful to see, and it leaves a great impact on you.  However, graphics are slightly blocky by today's standards, and you will notice a few glitches (such as door to the Living Room, and the open safe).  But there are some wonderful moments as well, such as the way he reaches down to wheel himself around, and footsteps in the snow.  Characters have the strange ability to travel straight through doors, instead of opening them.  I noticed a few spelling and grammar mistakes in the text, but this is not a major issue.  The son's text at start of game was a little hard to read, but again, this is not a big deal at all.

Despite the shortcomings, I urge you to play this game.  You won't regret it!  Sinitrena has shown a talent for story-telling, and letting you connect with the main character.  The ending is interesting, and really makes you think, as it can be interpreted more than one way.
