Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion Virtual Machine. So what's it all about, then?
Scumm is an emulator that was originally created to play the classic LucasArts adventure game, Maniac Mansion, as the game was unplayable with 'newer' Windows-systems (Win 98 and above). Scumm quickly expended to include a lot more classic LucasArts games such as Day Of The Tentacle, Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade, Indiana Jones Fate Of Atlantis, Loom, Zak McKracken, and many more. But if that's not enough for you, it now goes beyond LucasArts, and includes games from AdventureSoft and Coktel, as well. And as a bonus, the Scumm team have even included a few freeware games on their Downloads page. For a full list of Scumm-compatible games, check their Compatibility page here - http://www.scummvm.org/compatibility/
Wow, I can play all these lovely games again? Tell me more!Bear in mind that you still need a copy of the original game. Scumm doesn't provide that games for you (with the exception of freeware games listed on Compatibility page). It merely lets you play the games you own, through it's own interface. But Scumm is very easy to use. After you download and install it, you will see a big green 'S' on your desktop. Double-click on the 'S' to begin, then click on 'Add Game' from the menu. Simply navigate where your game is stored (cd rom drive, floppy drive, hard drive etc), and then click 'Choose'. The game should now appear in your game menu. Click on 'Edit Game', and play about with the settings, to suit your preference. Now simply click on 'Start', and away you go. Easy Peasy!
